Surgimiento y desarrollo de las bibliotecas médicas en Santiago de Cuba

Resumen

Se exponen los antecedentes, evolución y perspectivas de las bibliotecas médicas en Santiago de Cuba, incluidas las 3 primeras de las que se tiene referencia en el territorio.  Por las características del estudio fue preciso entrevistar a bibliotecarias de la Red y del Centro Provincial de Información de Ciencias Médicas de esta ciudad.  Desde los comienzos hasta hoy se ha producido un avance vertiginoso en la actividad, al haberse multiplicado las unidades de información y el personal bibliotecario que labora en la atención primaria y secundaria de salud.

Emergence and development of the medical libraries in Santiago de Cuba

ABSTRACT

The history, development and perspectives of the medical libraries in Santiago de Cuba are exposed, including the 3 first of those having reference in the territory. Because of the characteristics of the study, it was necessary to interview librarians of the Net and of the Information Provincial Center of Medical Sciences of this city. From the beginnings up to now a vertiginous advance in the activity has taken place, as the institutions of information and the librarian staff that works in the primary and secondary health care have been multiplied.
